My apologies for the delay in getting a report out this week.

 

Our bulk email system was changed to a new version which will need some time to learn so I have had to get DotGolf to revert back to our old version until there is an opportunity to get some instruction.  The upshot is that it has been impossible to communicate with members until now.

 

So this will be short and sweet this week.

 

 

This tees off at 9am on Saturday 4 November which is eleven days away. 

 

Entries are coming in and the elite field is looking strong.  Note that there are two divisions; Division 1 for players with playing handicaps (off the blue tees) of up to 13 and Division 2 for players with playing handicaps of 14 plus.  There was confusion about the handicap cut off and we have been quite generous in Division 2 by having no maximum handicap. 

 

It would be good to see some more of our top golfers enter the field.  With home advantage anything could happen.

 

Inexplicably none of our women have joined the women's field.  There is a good table of prizes available for the women.  While the elite golfers will contest the gross prize,  the Stableford and the Net Prizes give everyone ample opportunity to compete.  Handicaps are a great leveller in the sport of golf, probably the only sport where everyone competes as equals.  Without wanting to sound alarmist (not my style really) there are only two women entered in the event and neither of them are Karori members.

 

And, a challenge to committee members.  Only three of us have entered so far, so come on, let's be having you!

The rumor is that there is a rugby match on this Sunday so the Gaskies will be teeing off after 11am to accommodate those who wish to cheer on the All Blacks.  I'm sure that Shirties and Matts Mob will probably do like wise.  If so would they please advise and tees times will be reserved accordingly.  If not, regular tee times will stand.

 

 

We are holding a working bee on Thursday 2 November to help get the course ready for the City of Wellington.  There will be plenty of work for all to do within each persons capabilities.

 

 

Please make the effort ot come along and support the club.  It's all very much appreciated, particularly by TK and his crew.  If you can let Keith know that would be helpful, but if you just turn up on the day you will be welcome.  Bring strudy footwear and gloves (an possibly a rake and/or a shovel).  More on this a little later in the week once we are sure what chores will need doing.

 

 

Twilight golf tees off late afternoon on Thursdays regularly  until the end of daylight savings.

 

$20 covers the entry fee and a gourmet barbecue dinner.

 

This is a relaxing fun event  played off the short tees with rules that will assist you in your enjoyment of the game.  There is a prizegiving each week.

 

Don't worry if you don't have a "team".  You will be helped out when you arrive.  No golfer left behind!
