 Good afternoon all.
I have received the following message from TK this afternoon.
"Following the recent storm, our golf course has sustained significant damage, and we are calling on as many volunteers as possible to help us get the course back into playing condition.
We will be holding a working bee starting Monday from 8:30am to 3:00pm, and continuing each day until the cleanup is complete. Any time you can spare, whether it's a few hours or a full day, would be greatly appreciated.
Our immediate goal is to have the front nine reopened by the end of Wednesday. The remainder of the week will then be dedicated to clearing the back nine, which will remain closed all week while cleanup continues.
What to bring:
Chainsaws (if you are experienced and confident using one)
Rakes
Appropriate PPE, including sturdy footwear, gloves, hearing and eye protection for chainsaw operators
Tasks will include:
Chainsaw operators: Cutting fallen trees and large branches into manageable sections and piling the offcuts. The course is currently too wet to safely use the trailer, so all material will be stacked for removal once conditions improve.
Rake crews: Clearing branches, leaves and other debris from fairways into piles, ready for collection when the course is dry enough to use the blower and trailer.
Due to the wet ground conditions, all volunteers are asked to walk the course. Please do not use golf carts until the Superintendent advises that the course is dry enough.
The support of our members has always been one of the strengths of Karori Golf Club, and your help during this cleanup will make a huge difference. We hope to see as many of you as possible from 8:30am on Monday.
Thank you in advance for your time and support."
